SHARIF KHIAM AHMED
Sharif Khiam Ahmed's career in journalism spanned 18 years, beginning at the grassroots level. He made his debut with Ajker Paribartan, a daily circulated in Bangladesh's southern division. He then worked for Dainik Dakshinanchal, Dainik Ajker Barta and Dainik Satya Sangbad. He served as the local correspondent for Saptahik 2000, a now-defunct yet influential magazine.
His relocation to Dhaka provided him with access to a diverse range of media outlets: Dainik Destiny, News Agency INB (Independent News of Bangladesh), Dainik Diner Sheshe, Online Portal Sheershanews.com, Saptahik Sheersha Kagoz, Dainik Adhinayak, Dainik Arthaneeti Protidin, Dainik Amader Kantha, Newsnextbd.com, and Dainik Bangladesher Khabor. He played different roles at different outlets.
Currently, he covers crucial sectors including security, human rights, and politics for BenarNews as its Dhaka-based visual journalist. With his knack for poetry, screenplay and cinematography, he is a popular face in his arena, dearly known by his nickname Eon.
He has also received the Edward R. Murrow Award in 2021.
