RAFIQUL ISLAM MONTU
Rafiqul Islam Montu is a three-decade veteran, award-winning Bangladeshi freelance journalist. He is a pioneer of climate journalism and also covered plethora of other topics including gender rights.

His work proudly appeared in The Guardian, The Third Pole, Thomson Reuters Foundation News, The New Humanitarian, Gaon Connection, Down to Earth, Tree Hugger, Indiaspend and many other international media. He previously worked for top local outlets like Prothom Alo, Kaler Kontho, Samakal, Manabzamin and Bhorer Kagoj.
Rafiqul received the Naturalist Global Award in 2021. In 2022, he was selected as a finalist for the Covering Climate Now Journalism Award. He also authored two books 'Cyclone SIDR and 'Island Livelihood and Human Rights'.
