
MUNIR UZ ZAMAN
Munir Uz Zaman started his career with a local news agency in 2005.
In 2008, he began working with Agence France-Presse (AFP). By this time, he had covered most of the major news breaks in Bangladesh, and his work had been widely published across the world, including The New York Times, International Herald Tribune, Time Magazine, and The Guardian.
He also had a stint for the Los Angeles Times as their South Asian Region correspondent. In 2012, he was embedded with the US Army in Afghanistan.

Munir also worked for Voice of America as a freelance video journalist.
He was honoured with several international awards for his outstanding work on the Rohingya crisis since 2012 and the Rana Plaza Garments building collapse in Bangladesh in 2013.
​
He also received the SOPA awards in 2025 for his coverage of the country's July student protest.
