MUKTADIR RASHID

Md Muktadir Rashid, also known by his nickname Romeo, is an award-winning Bangladeshi journalist. His work reflects specialisation of topics including security, extremism, refugee crises, politics and crime.

​

Romeo writes for Vice News, Irrawaddy, Al Jazeera, The Telegraph, The Guardian and many other international outlets. He is also a senior correspondent at national daily New Age where he fearlessly wrote a plethora of reality changing reports.

​

He received respected fellowships including the State IVLP, Chevening, GIJN and ICFJ. He won the prestigious Human Rights Press Awards jointly given by HKFCC and Amnesty International for his Rohingya reporting coverage.

​

The DU graduate is an avid campaigner for press rights in Bangladesh.

​

Romeo is a co-founder of BJIM.
