MARZIA MOMO

Marzia is an investigative journalist specialising in human rights abuses and extrajudicial killings by law enforcement agencies in Bangladesh, currently reporting for Netra News.

Her work has exposed grave violations against Indigenous communities, including cases of rape and unlawful killings carried out by military forces. Her investigations have also shed light on the climate of fear, marginalisation, and disinformation faced by the country’s Hindu minority.

Marzia's bylines have appeared on prominent international platforms, including the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP), the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung, and others.

A recognised voice in global investigative journalism, she is a 2025 fellow of the CNN Academy, the Global Investigative Journalism Network (GIJN), and the Earth Journalism Network. She is also a member of the Oxford Climate Journalism Network and GIJN Women.

In 2024, Marzia mentored upcoming journalists through the AAJA-Asia Student Reporting Mentorship Programme. Her work has been acknowledged with several accolades, including the prestigious UNESCO Award in 2021.

She is the first BJIM Fellow to become a BJIM Member.
